The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education has integrated six of their universities into Commonwealth University and PennWest University.

• PennWest University – The integration of California, Clarion, and Edinboro Universities.
  
• Commonwealth University – The integration of Bloomsburg, Lock Haven and its Clearfield Campus, and Mansfield Universities.
